The Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) serves as the flagship local government-funded university of Pasig City. Offering completely tuition-free higher education to qualified Pasigueños, PLP serves as a highly competitive catalyst for institutional upward mobility, academic research, and community-oriented professional training.

What is PLP?

Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Pasig (PLP) operates as a standard, non-profit public university specializing in four-year undergraduate degrees.

The campus features multi-story instructional buildings equipped with a dedicated university library, speech laboratories, computerized lecture rooms, and science research spaces designed to meet modern higher education standards.

The primary function of PLP is equitable academic empowerments. Unlike specialized trade centers like PCIST, PLP focuses on long-term professional career tracks, professional licensure preparation, and civic leadership training. Admission into the university is highly competitive, requiring stringent screening through the PLP College Admission Test (PLPCAT) alongside local residency verification.

PLP started with six initial degree programs, reflecting a commitment to offering a diverse range of educational opportunities. The initial programs included Bachelor in Secondary Education, Bachelor in Elementary Education, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, Bachelor of Science in Hospitality Management, and Bachelor of Science in Information Technology.

Over the years, PLP has expanded its academic offerings to meet the evolving needs of its students. Additional programs, such as Bachelor of Science in Electronics and Communications Engineering, and Bachelor of Science in Nursing, were introduced in 2001 and 2002, respectively.

From Inception to Inauguration

Inception and Policy Foundation

The creation of PLP was born from a vision to provide underprivileged yet academically competent Pasig public school graduates access to quality university education. On March 15, 1999, during the administration of former Mayor Vicente C. Eusebio, the Sangguniang Panlungsod ng Pasig passed Ordinance No. 11, series of 1999, which formally authorized the establishment of the university.

Development and Inauguration

Following its legal passage, the university's curriculum, board structure, and operational systems were meticulously laid out over the course of a year. PLP officially opened its doors and was inaugurated on June 14, 2000, coinciding with the grand celebration of Araw ng Pasig.

Initially starting with a modest student body and limited course offerings, the university expanded its campus facilities and achieved full recognized status under the Commission on Higher Education (CHED). Today, under the chairmanship of the local executive leadership, PLP has consistently evolved its physical infrastructure and board passing rates, cementing its reputation as a premiere local state university (LSU).

Navigating parking around PLP can be tricky due to the university's location in Kapasigan—a bustling, historic zone characterized by narrow streets and heavy commercial traffic.

On-Campus Parking

Availability: Highly Restricted.

Policy: The slots inside the immediate PLP campus courtyard are reserved primarily for university administrators, faculty members, official guests, and utility vehicles. Students and everyday visitors are generally not permitted to park cars inside the school grounds.

Motorbikes: Limited slots are sometimes designated for student/visitor motorbikes near the security gates, but these fill up incredibly early in the morning.

Traffic Advisory Warning: Avoid parking on the curbs of Alcalde Jose Street or any secondary roads in Barangay Kapasigan. The Pasig City Traffic and Parking Management Office (TPMO) regularly deploys tow trucks and issues Ordinance Violation Receipts (OVR) for illegal street parking.
